Dr Becky Hope's estranged husband is dying in a hospice, his mistress at his bedside. Distraught and exhausted, Becky turns to her colleague Dr Jake Lachlan, who at first is unaware that she's married. When he does find out, wanting to put some space between them, he joins an Antarctic expedition as a ship's medic - unaware that Becky is the second doctor.
