Product Description Wall, C. Edward From Library Journal The initial volume in a series intended as a "major encyclopedia of historical events and persons" arranged by date of anniversary. It differs markedly from other "calendar reference books" by serving primarily as a resource guide for classroom projects or displays. This year's volume covers events whose anniversaries end in "0" or "5" in 1987. Subsequent annuals will continue this pattern until the cycle is complete in 1992. For each topic there is a brief summary and a list of reference sources categorized for adults, young adults, and children. Suggestions for related projects, etc. , follow. This year's 430 topics represent a wide variety of anniversaries, e. g. , Nixon's visit to China, Debbie Reynolds's 55th birthday. While the content is authoritative and the topics diverse, the approach to chronology is somewhat unorthodox. Most useful for secondary school classes in history and social studies. Stanely P.
