This is a true story. Strictly based on my personal diaries and recollections, it registers the travails, privations, and sufferings endured through more than three years of enemy occupation following the invasion of the Philippines by the imperial forces of Japan during the course of the Pacific War in 1941-1945. It is capped by the exhilarating joy of the promised liberation gallantly accomplished by the Fil-American forces... This story is brought to public light not only in observance of the fiftieth anniversary of the events noted here, but more principally, to help make true our fervent prayer that it never happen again -- or elsewhere.
