Here is a choice collection of 25 of the most famous rags written in the years from 1904 to 1910, the period generally regarded as the golden age of ragtime music. Selected by David A. Jasen, the well-known ragtime performer, composer and historian of popular music, the rags here range from the early (and extremely rare) "Whoa! You Heiffer, " by New Orleanian Al Verges, to three of Scott Joplin's works, iincluding his brilliant "Fig Leaf Rag, " to works by Tin Pan Alley's hottest composers of the day, among them George Botsford, Harry Armstrong and Egbert Van Alstyne.
