Bo and Lexie have been married twenty-nine years and are living on their ranch in the Honda Valley of New Mexico. Their daughter, Tommie Rose, has been a missionary in South Africa the previous five years. Their son, Jack, and his wife, Lacy, are on the Professional Rodeo tour, with her sitting number two in the world in barrel racing. Zack, Jack's twin brother, is in his sixth year of college, pursuing a medical degree. A tragic event brings them all back home to the ranch, where together as a family they attempt to heal and move forward with their lives. Doubts about his faith challenges Bo, as he deals with the tragedy. He relinquishes much of the leadership of the family to Tommie Rose whose faith never waivers as she provides the family with much needed strength. Within the course of a year, the direction of their future changes and what seemed important earlier, is now viewed as trivial.
