Can I Have Some? is one of three titles written by Miriam Moss for the Key Skills (High Frequency Words) strand of Cambridge Reading. This series of three also includes AmI a Cat? and One Day It Was Wet. The stories centre around brother and sister, Max and Milly, their Mum and Dad, and assorted pets. In Can I Have Some? , Max and Mum are busy in the kitchen, which arouses considerable curiosity amongst the other members of the family. The language is simple with repetition of high frequency words – ideal for young readers in the Foundation stage (aged 4). The High Frequency Words strand comprises 20 storybooks and 20 non-fiction books providing a fresh approach to learning high frequency words by using real texts. The books provide a systematic introduction and reinforcement of all the NLS words.
