Li, was born in a remote rural mountain village, Yuan Bei, Quidong County, at the southeast corner of Hunan Province in China. His childhood and early adult years were spent living within the destruction of the Japanese invasion of China during World War II and the subsequent Chinese Civil War between the Nationalist government and the Communists' Liberation Army. He came to the United States from Taiwan in 1967 and became an American citizen in 1977. He earned four college degrees, three from American higher education institutions. Li's career in education in the United States included positions as public school teacher, junior college library assistant director, and university professor. He retired from his career in education in 1997. His biographical profile has been included in Marquis Who's Who in America, since 57th Edition, 2003. Li lives in Fort Worth, Texas with wife, Felisa.
