Geocoachers use a handheld Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver to acquire coordinates toward finding a hidden treasure (cache in GPS-speak). In this publication of the International Society for Technology in Education, Lo (California Technology Assistance Project) introduces GPS basics and classroom applications of the geocoaching hobby. He advises teachers to try out geocoaching themselves before taking students on such adventures.
