This is based on a tale told by Burton (Anatomy of Melancholy: Pt. 3, Sec. 2, Mem. I, Subs. I) which he god from Florilegus, ad annum 1058, "an honest historian of our nation, because he telleth it so confidently, as a think in those days talked of all over Europe".
