First released as The ABC of Bee Culture in 1877 by A. I. Root. After many editions and with advancement in bee culture the title was changed for the 1910 and subsequent editions to The ABC and XYZ of Bee Culture, with authorship assumed by E. R. Root (the son of the original author). The text was expanded from the original 200 pages to over 800 pages and more in later editions.
