The increased demand for seed for use in reforestation in Newfoundland has focused attention on increasing the productivity of programs of seed collection. One method is to begin harvesting cones early to reduce losses to predators. Various dates of collection were examined for black spruce, white spruce and tamarack in central Newfoundland.
