The sudden disappearance of an obscure clerk for a British engineering firm leads Max Stafford, head of Security Consultants, Ltd. , to North Africa, where he teams up with an American veteran of World War II, who has made the desert his home for thirty-five years, to search out the wreck of an airplane which had disappeared in 1936 and to discover that the plane had been sabotaged and who had done it.
