Anne Hemming was not the type to hate anyone, but the morning Mr. Jerome angrily fired her she certainly came close. For every bad, however, there is a good, and Anne heard of a small inheritance with which she resolved to take a long luxurious holiday in the Lake District. Just as well she didn't know then how that holiday and David Jerome were to change her life.
