The song was released as a standalone single, and was also recorded specifically for the soundtrack to Michael Bay's film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It was written by the band and produced by band member Mike Shinoda. It also serves as the film's main theme and was released as the soundtrack's lead single on May 18, 2009, by Reprise Records.
